Lyndsie Kashima netted two goals to lead the Kaua‘i Sarks to a 7-0 win over the Kaua‘i Extreme Strikers in the Under 12 division as the Kaua‘i Soccer Association opened its spring season before a large crowd at the North Vidinha soccer fields, Saturday.
Joining Kashima, Caley Caires, Chassidy Cantorna, Shayna Shigematsu, Gabby Taboniar and Chase Tokita each put in a goal for the win.
Onipa‘a from the Westside fields three teams in the Under 8 division which includes eight teams.
Makani, playing a double-header on the opening day, came up short, dropping to Team Onipa‘a GU8 in two games, 5-0 and 2-0.
The Westside Falcons, posting a team in the Under 8 and two squads in the Under 10 division, ended the outing with two wins and a tie as the BU8 Falcons blanked Team Onipa‘a Elua, 6-0 in the Under 8 division.
The BU10 Boys Falcons took a 4-0 win over Pohaku BU10 and the GU10 Girls Falcons stalemated the Kilauea Strikers, 0-0.
The Lihu‘e Cougars topped Makani Gold, 8-0 and Team Onipa‘a Ekahi chalked up a 2-1 win over Northshore Lightning in the Under 8 division. The Hurricanes enjoyed an opening day bye.
The Northshore Green Devils opened with a 2-0 win over Team Onipa‘a BU-10 in the Under 10 division and continued its win streak with a 3-1 edge over Team Onipa‘a BU10.
Team Chikara ‘09 rounded out the Under 10 division with a 4-0 showing over Team Onipa‘a GU10.
Pohaku GU10 and GIFC BU10 enjoyed byes on the opening day.
Following the Sparks’ win, Team Onipa‘a GU12 took a 2-0 edge over Kilalei and the GIFC Orange BU12 eked out a 2-1 edge over the Kaua‘i Bulls in the Under 12 division.
The KSC-Blazing Angels and Westside Falcons BU12 enjoyed byes.
The GIFC White BU14 took a 5-1 win over Northshore to open the Under 14 division matches with FC Northshore getting a 3-2 edge over Lokahi and the KSC-Blazing Angels U14 nipping Team Onipa‘a GU14, 5-0 to round out the opening day.
GIFC Blue GU14 and the Westside Falcons BU14 enjoyed opening day byes.
The KSA season continues Saturday starting at 8 a.m. at the North Vidinha fields. There is no fee to attend.
