LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Red Raiders now have their opponent as Honoka‘a topped Radford by a 3-0 score in Wednesday’s first round of the JN Automotive Group’s Division II Girls Soccer State Championships at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
Kaua‘i (6-0-1), which begins its tournament run as the No. 3 seed in the Div. II bracket, will play Honoka‘a in today’s quarterfinal round. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Waipio’s Field 12.
Honoka‘a (7-5-2) got goals from Kimberly Kishimoto (14th minute), Monica Carlos (42’) and Tialana Greenwell (69’) in the shutout victory to advance.
D-II top seed Hawai‘i Prep (9-2-1) will take on Makua Lani (5-9), which got a pair of second-half goals to notch a 4-2 win over Waipahu (8-5-1). Grace Choe scored twice (18’, 51’), as did Tiffany Nakamura (25’, 58’) for Honoka‘a.
Both Waipahu goals were scored by Jahna Tascon (25’, 32’).
Mid-Pacific (4-9) scored early and often for a 4-1 win over Kalaheo (8-2-3). Taylor Higa scored the first two goals (12’, 15’) to give Mid-Pac the 2-0 lead at the half. AJ Johnson (42’) and Julie Khil (57’) put the score at 4-0 before Kalaheo’s Monique Ishikawa (66’) scored her side’s lone goal.
Mid-Pac will now take on No. 4 seed Seabury Hall (8-7-1).
Kamehameha-Big Island (9-2-4) was a shutout winner over St. Anthony (4-13) as Harper Hottendorf (10’) and Codi Kualii (50’) each scored in the 2-0 victory.
No. 2 Leilehua (9-4) will take on Kamehameha today.
All D-II games will be played today at 3 p.m. on Fields 9-12.
Division I
A late goal from Ashley Pundyke (61’) was the only score in Kamehameha-Maui’s (15-1-1) win over Kaiser (8-6-2).
It now matches up with No. 1 seed Punahou (10-1-1) today at 5 p.m. in the Main Stadium.
Two extra periods were necessary to determine a winner between Kahuku (8-6-3) and Moanalua (13-2-2), but Chantel Abregano scored in the 99th minute of play for a 1-0 Kahuku victory.
No. 4 Hilo (12-0-2) will take on Kahuku today at 1 p.m. in the Main Stadium.
Pearl City (11-3-3) got a pair of second-half goals from Alix Suwa (42’, 70’) for a 2-0 victory over Kealakehe (8-3-2).
No. 2 Mililani (13-0-2) will play Pearl City tonight at 7 p.m. in the Main Stadium.
‘Iolani (10-1-2) wasted little time in its 3-0 win over Kapolei (9-4-3), getting a pair of scores from Krystal Pascua (6’, 30’) and another from Shaye Villanueva (21’).
No. 3 Baldwin (15-0-1) will take on ‘Iolani at 3 p.m. in the Main Stadium.
All semifinal matches are scheduled for Friday, with the championship matches played Saturday.
OC16 will have live coverage of the Division I semifinal matches at 5 and 7 p.m.
