Britni Ludington-Braun’s heeler talents with two teams in the Dally Team Roping pushed her to All Around Cowgirl honors in the latest Kaua‘i All Girl Rodeo Association event in Po‘ipu.
Kim Medeiros, posting No. 3 in the Second D (26.408) of 3D Pole Bending, and second in the Goat Untying (22.533), No. 3 in Steer Undecorating (5.68), was the successful heeler for Sandra Akita (33.19) in the Dally Team Roping event to finish as the Reserve All Around Cowgirl for the event held at the CJM Country Stables.
Ludington-Braun could not wrestle the lead from Taylor Ludington in the First D of the 3D Barrels event, Ludington-Braun stopping the clock at 18.034 below Ludington’s 17.928.
That was good enough to hold off any challenges from Alexis Vasconcelles (18.172), Cheyanne Tannery (18.358) and Robin Medeiros (18.425) in the First D, all girls punching 18-second go’s.
But she rebounded to take top honors in the First D of the 3D Pole Bending event on a 22.882 go, holding off Cora Murayama (23.92), Tierra Rapozo (24.189) and Summer Malina (24.691) in the class.
Ludington-Braun dropped to No. 3 in the Goat Tying with a 27.449, below Kristyn Vasconcelles (22.321), Medeiros, but ahead of Murayama (28.578) and Wendy Tannery (32.457).
She rounded out the day with top honors in the Dally Team event, teaming with Taylor Ludington on a 29.23 average for first place, and teamed with Alexis Vasconcelles for a 35.22 average for third place, below the Akita and Medeiros duo (33.19). The team of Cora Murayama and Joyce Miranda (36.5) and Tara Fernandez and Kristine Sugai (11.22/1) rounded out the event standings.
Kristyn Vasconcelles showed strong, topping the Goat Tying, Steer Undecorating, and Breakaway Roping events.
Kristyn pushed a 5.23 go in the Steer Undecorating event, holding off a challenge by Rhonda Kaui (5.4), Medeiros (5.68), Murayama (7.12) and Sandra Akita (8.84), last year’s KAGRA All Around Cowgirl.
Kristyn also topped the Breakaway (7.29) over the challenge of Kaui (11.2), Sandra Akita (17.77), Rosanne Shimogawa (18.17) and Kim Medeiros (18.41).
Shan Mundon topped the Second D of the Barrels event on a 19.847 followed by Courtney Medeiros (19.933), Debbie Bail (19.987), Eliza Vierra (20.189) and Summer Malina (20.216).
