Friday night is “Test and Tune” night, said Kerri Villa of the Garden Isle Racing Association.
That means spectators get special pricing of $6 per person for the night of test runs and tuning which runs from 6 to 10 p.m., a prelude to Saturday’s Street Shootout races.
Children 12 years and under are admitted free to the Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
Gates to the Friday event open at 3 p.m. for both racers and spectators.
Saturday races will feature the Street Shootout and bracket racing for all classes with gates opening at 11 a.m.
Tech inspections take place until 2 p.m., followed by timed trials running until 6 p.m., when there will be a dinner break.
Bracket racing starts at 7 p.m. until completion.
“Come see door slammers, blown fuel cars, dragsters, muscle cars, imports, and Junior Dragsters driven by children 8 to 18 years old,” Villa said in an e-mail.
Admission for the Saturday event is $12 per person with children 12 and under admitted free.
This weekend’s races marks the opening of the 2011 race calender for GIRA at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
On April 2, GIRA will host the Sport Compact event followed on May 7 with the Diesel Truck races.
