Kaoru Taogoshi
Kaoru Taogoshi of Kapa‘a died Feb. 23, 2011, at his home at age 86. Born May 20, 1924, in Moloa‘a, Kaua‘i, he was a mechanic with Kapa‘a Super Service.
He is survived by wife Alice S. Taogoshi of Kapa‘a; sons Glenn Shimazu and Russell (Lisa) Shimazu, both of Kaua‘i; daughter Georgianna (Randall) Matsumoto of O‘ahu; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Miyoko Hashimoto and June Mullins, both of O‘ahu; brother-in-law Hiromi Abo of Honolulu; sister-in-law Kazue Taogoshi of Kaua‘i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission; service officiated by Rev. Kazunori Takahashi will begin at 2 p.m. Casual attire. Flowers are welcome.

Joyce Kamakea Ventura Vierra died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in Kailua at age 72.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Vierra Sr., and son, Stanford Vierra.
She is survived by her daughters, Stacy (Dinx) Farias, Joy (Christopher) Stedman; sons, Stanley Jr., Roy (Sanei) Roland, Joaquin; sisters, Queenie (Jamie) Dowsett, Charlotte (Bill) Fuller, Sophie (Jesse) Makainai; brothers, Peter (Bea) Roy, Louis (Andrea) Ventura; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
A celebration of her life will be on Friday, March 11, at Keolu Hills LDS Church across from the skate park at Keolu Elementary School; 8 a.m. viewing, services at 10 a.m., burial to follow at Valley of The Temples.

Elisa Balauro
Elisa Brioso Balauro of Kekaha died Feb. 25, 2011, at Straub Hospital in Honolulu at age 69. Born Jan. 31, 1941, in Patucannay Bangued, Abra, Philippines, she was a retired worker with Syngenta Seeds Inc.
She is survived by her husband, Valentin Balauro Sr.; brothers, Leonardo Brioso of Philippines and Juan Brioso Jr. of Philippines; sister, Herminia (Arnold) Gandeza of California; sons, Richard Balauro of Kekaha and Valentin (Piilani) Balauro Jr. of Kekaha; daughters, Jackelyn (Gene) Hayashi of Honolulu, Jean Balauro of Honolulu, Joy (Larry) Groenleer of Lihu‘e; grandchildren, Justin and Ridge Hayashi of Honolulu, Kelsie, Kristin and Kayla Groenleer of Lihu‘e; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. with Mass to be held at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at Kekaha Cemetery.

Noboru Takamura
Noboru Takamura of Kapa‘a died Feb. 17, 2011 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 95. Born Sept. 25, 1915, in Honolulu, he was Chief Sanitarian with Kaua‘i District Health Office.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kikue Takamura; son, Ronald Takamura; daughter, Joycee Yamase and parents, Shimajiro and Shige Takamura.
He is survived by sons, Ted (Raynette) Takamura of Gresham, Ore., Gerald (Susan) Takamura of Kapa‘a; daughter, Becky (Russell) Wada of Lihu‘e; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Isamu (Takako) Takamura, Akira (Emiko) Takamura of Japan; son-in-law, David Yamase of Lihu‘e; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Kapa‘a; service officiated by Rev. Ben Nelson will begin at 10 a.m.

Howard Kaneto Kurihara of Wailua Houselots died Feb. 28, 2011 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 89. Born on June 25, 1921, in Kawaihau, Kaua‘i, he was the Proprietor of Togikawa Store.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred T. Kurihara of Wailua Houselots; daughters, Gale A. Lindemann (Jeff) of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Jan K. Tatsuguchi (Keith) of Honolulu; four grandchildren; brother, Frank Kurihara (Carol) of Honolulu; sisters, Marilyn Okamoto (Asahi) of Koloa and Sanae Saito (Clifford) of Kahului; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arnold R. Acosta of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i died on March 2, 2011 at his residence at the age of 49. Born on August 16, 1961 in the Philippines, he was a self-employed construction worker, US Merchant Marine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Corazon Acosta; father, Gil Acosta; brothers, Renato Acosta and Vincent Acosta.
He is survived by his wife, Mele Acosta; sons, Gil (Cherrylyn) Acosta, Arnold Acosta; daughters, Jocelyn (Neil) Fernandez, Kristi-Mae Acosta, Joyce (Derek) Catbagan, Jackie (Paterno Jr.) Degracia; brothers, Sonny (Marible Dacuycuy) Acosta, Tony (Mercy Fiesta) Acosta, Chris (Nora Ylaban) Acosta, Leandro (Ruby Reginaldo) Acosta; sisters, Leilanie (Lamberto Vea) Acosta, Virgie (Rick Mariani) Albero; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Michael Pagelsdorf Sr.
