Café Portofino serves the finest Italian food early evening, but when it gets dark it takes off its hat and puts on its night club cape. What a fun establishment owned and operated by Giuseppe Avocadi, who is one of the nicest restaurant owners you’ll meet on Kaua‘i.
His sons — Alex Avocadi (who does his thing by bartending serving up the exquisite drinks) and DJ Maximillian Avocadi (doing his thing on the dance floor by mixing up the hottest music that gets you on your feet) — really make you feel welcomed and like you’re family there.
As you check in, you start with your favorite drink. Then you can sit outside by the balcony or inside where the music is flowing. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s encouraged to mingle here as everyone comes mostly from the ship that is at the Nawiliwili port here on Thursdays. Everyone from the boat is from all over the world. It’s interesting to find out where one might be from and their point of views of the world. Either way, the drinks and people are new and enticing. So if you’re looking for a change in your night scene, take a new adventure over to Café Portofino on Thursday nights. The club is open at 10 p.m. but really gets going around midnight and closes at 2 a.m.
So let go of your comfort zone and head over to the best kept secret: Café Portofino where you can get your groove on and forget about your troubles, like the locals say “alright!”
