LIHU‘E — Justin Lewis and Nainoa Ragragola came up with second-half goals to lead the Westside Falcons to a 2-0 edge over a persistent Northshore Lightning squad in the Under 8 division, Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
The win puts the Westside Falcons into a tie with Team Onipa‘a Ekahi, a 6-0 winner over Team Onipa‘a Elua with identical 2-0 records and six points apiece in the Kaua‘i Soccer Association Spring Season, Boys Under 8 division.
The Herricanes, finishing with a win and a tie in a doubleheader with the Lihu‘e Cougars, are tied for second place in the Girls Under 8 division. The Herricanes tout a 1-0-1 record for four points and the Cougars have a 1-1-1 record, also for four points.
During the Saturday matchup, the Herricanes pulled out a 2-0 edge before deadlocking the Cougars 3-3 in the nightcap.
Team Onipa‘a, an 8-0 winner over Makani Gold, leads the GU8 division with a 3-0 record and nine points.
Team Chikara swept its double-header in the Under 10 division, 2-0 and 4-0 against the Westside Falcons GU10 to take the sole lead in its division standings with a 3-0 record and nine points.
Other U10 division results saw Team Onipa‘a BU10 get past the GIFC Red BU10, 3-0, Pohaku GU10 take a 5-0 win over Team Onipa‘a GU10, and the Northshore Green Devils preserve an undefeated 3-0 record in the BU10 division with a 5-0 win over the Pohaku BU10 squad.
The Westside Falcons BU12 swept its doubleheader over the GIFC Orange BU12, 1-0 and 5-1 to take the lead in the BU12 division standings. Following Saturday’s results, the Falcons BU12 are at 2-0, followed by the GIFC Orange at 1-2.
Kilalei was a 3-0 winner over the KSC-Blazing Angels and the Kaua‘i Extreme Strikers chipped out a 3-2 edge over Team Onipa‘a GU12 in other Under 12 matches.
Those results brings the GU12 division into a four-way tie for the lead with the Strikers (1-1), Kilalei (1-1), Team Onipa‘a GU12 (1-1) and the Kaua‘i Sparks (1-0) all sporting three points.
The KSC-Blazing Angels shut down Lokahi 7-0 in the Under 14 division to claim sole possession of the GU14 division lead with a 2-0 record and six points.
GIFC Blue GU14, a 2-1 winner over Team Onipa‘a GU14, is tied for second place with the FC Northshore, both teams at 1-0 records and three points.
The Westside Falcons BU14 made its debut, finishing with a 0-0 deadlock with the GIFC White BU14. But following its win over Northshore last week, the GIFC White maintains its lead with a 1-0-1 record in the BU14 standings and four points.
The public is invited to view the soccer competition this Saturday when the KSA Spring season enters its third week at the North Vidinha fields starting at 8 a.m. There is no admission charge.
