Following more than a month of an ongoing Kaua‘i Police Department campaign to slow motorists passing through the Wailua Bridge and Puhi construction zones, local drivers were asked if people are obeying the 15 mph speed limit and if police are making an impact.
Here’s what they had to say:
Anthony Powers, Hanama‘ulu
“I would say there is definitely a problem with them enforcing it there. I see people (drive) 35-40, but if they see a cop, everybody slows down.”
Adriane Lanoza, Puhi
“I see them flying by. It’s not like they are doing the 15. You see cops over there, but I’m not sure they’re enforcing it.”
Deja Rivera, Hanama‘ulu
“Nowadays, people are more in a rush. They don’t even have courtesy. I can’t figure out why people are in such a rush and they can’t obey the speed limit.”
