The rain didn’t dampen the crowd at Kukui Grove Center, Friday, as Kelly Bandalos and the Kaua‘i Society of Artists hosted its first-ever celebration of girls in art.
Kelly said thanks to Wade Lord, the show was moved to the back of the food court area where it was safe from the rain.
Carol Ann Davis was busy following Kelly around getting pictures of everyone, Kimberlin Blackburn said she’s the second banana to Bandalos, and even Larry Rivera (he said his Café Portofino shows are doing very well) came to peek at some of the artwork and people before his show (he recruited two young people to do vocals and ‘ukulele).
Marty Kahn stopped by before dinner at Hanama‘ulu Cafe, and Joy Kouchi made her secret grab bag contributions, but wanted to wait until she got home to check out its contents.
Art Umezu was going crazy with Daphne Sanchez and Kieren Caberto, Miss Island Mokihana and Miss Island Mokihana Outstanding Teen, respectively.
Harvey Kinoshita was enjoying the Larry Rivera show with Paul Steinfort before the East Kaua‘i Lions pancake breakfast.
