That was the first outing of the Parks and Recreation Winter 11 and Under Basketball League after its first games, Thursday, were rained out.
Saturday, the league featured six games in the 11-team field.
Michael Dasalia finished with a game-high 14 points to lead the Team Lihu‘e 1 effort.
Kiarra Palacio, coming from the recently-completed 13 Under league, posted a game-high 14 points as the Kaulupono girls took a 20-15 edge over the West Kaua‘i Hornets who got six points from Keatin Mariano-Hardy in the effort.
Kalia Shimabukuro, another veteran coming off the completed 13 and Under league, topped the Kamikaze in its 33-31 edge over Papalina-Blue in an overtime match.
Joining Shimabukuro, Sandrea Chung and Sheryl Tomas each added seven points in the win.
Noah Sasil finished the day with a game-high 27 points to lead the Papalina-Blue effort.
Kicah Acoba, coming off a strong guard for the West Kaua‘i Hornets in the 13 and Under league, led Lepo Ula with 11 points in its 31-18 showing over Westside. Acoba got help from Carl Mecham who added eight points.
Kasen Castro topped the Westside showing with eight points.
Lexton Camat blazed the nets with a game-high 19 points in Hanakila’s 55-30 win over the Kaua‘i Ballers in the final game, Saturday. Rafeal Raza added 15 points in the win.
Thomas Yam paced the Kaua‘i Ballers with 17 points.
Games continue with three games, Tuesday, and three games Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at 6 p.m. on both days.
Thursday matches feature Team Central against the Kamikaze starting at 6 p.m. followed by the Kaua‘i Ballers going up against Team Lihu‘e at 7 p.m. Westside Basketball closes the night against the West Kaua‘i Hornets starting at 8 p.m.
Saturday games move to the Kilauea Neighborhood Center with six games on tap starting at 9 a.m.
