Avery Kano said the Kaua‘i High School cheer squad contributed more than 60 pounds of food collected during the team’s “rehearsal” for the Knott’s Berry Farm Championships, and Mokihana Aquatics coach Orlando “O” Anaya (timed trials this weekend) said they’re planning to help during the Food Collection Day, Apr. 9. To top it off, Kelvin Moniz was doing line duty at the Tuesday volleyball games.
Leilani Bond is currently in Japan doing a ho‘ike with about 500 hula dancers in Tokyo. She was apprehensive about going, but the dancers pleaded with her to do the ho‘ike as a way to return to normal way of life following the disasters.
For people who want to help with the Japanese disaster, Ken “EAST-3” Nishimura (remember that mural at Me, Myself and I in Kapa‘a?) said “Japan by East3” shirts and a hoodie in mens, womens and youth sizes can be found at www.zazzle.com/qfmars with the proceeds going to help the people of Japan. The completed mural can be seen in Kapa‘a at Me, Myself and I and people can see Nishimura’s work at www.EAST-3.com.
