Jack Shaw Allen of Hanama‘ulu died at home on March 22, 2011, at age 79. Born May 10, 1931, in Heber, Calif., he retired as a painter.
He is survived by his daughters, Marsha Edwards of Alabama, Joy Allen of Hanama‘ulu; son Jobe Allen of Hanama‘ulu; sister, Wanda Shaw Davis of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 16, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center with visitation at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Allen family with arrangements.
Kodama Kimiko
Kimiko M. Kodama of Kapa‘a died on April 5, 2011, at her home at age 93. Born on May 1, 1917, in Hanapepe, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by husband Shoichi Kodama and son Benjamin Kodama.
She is survived by daughters LaVerne Kodama, Karen (James) Yamamoto, both of Kapa‘a; daughters-in-law Ann Kodama, Jean Kodama; brother Noboru (Judy) Muraoka of Kalaheo; sister Kasumi Oyama of Maui; grandchildren Reid (Janna) Yamamoto, Lori (Kent) Kikuchi, Mari Yamamoto, Cheryl (Steven) Sonoda, Ben (Lisa) Kodama, Linda (Keith) Kawahara, Steve (Glannie) Kodama; sister-in-law Janet Muraoka of Hanapepe; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, April 15, at the Garden Island Mortuary; service at 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Lihu‘e Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Marcela Maximo
Marcela Balocan Maximo of Lihu‘e died on April 6, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born in Lihu‘e on April 28, 1927. She was a cook at Club Jetty and Tip Top Café.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eliceo Francisco Marcos Maximo; sons, Michael Maximo and Charles Sasaki; parents, Teodolfo and Claudia Balocan; brothers, Conrado Balocan, Baltazar Balocan, Marcial Balocan; sisters, Juliana Balocan and Genevieva Balocan.
She is survived by her children, Doris Pina, Frances Maximo, Fred Maximo, Linda (Eddie) Staana, Teresita Maximo, Leona (Sixto Jr.) Tagupa, Lisa Marie Bernabe; hanai children, Richard Jose, Maribel Bernabe Calizo, Rolando Dace, Rinante Tangonan, Ferdinand Tangonan, Bernadette Bodano Leota, Katherine Bodano, David Bodano, Tracy Dace, Loreilei Bernabe Felix, Alex Palacio, Andrew Michels, Kris Craven, Jose Tan, Ligaya Tan,Vicky Ramil Glauberman; brothers, Alejandro (Cora) Balocan, John Balocan; sisters, Magdalena Sasaki, Beatrice (Edward) Ysseldyke, Dorothy Furtado; grandchildren, Michael Miranda, Danielle Staana, Brooke Tagupa, Jennifer Tagupa, Kelly Tagupa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Kapaia at 11 a.m.
