KAPA‘A — The Golden Lotus Studio in Kapa‘a officially opened its doors April 3, with a grand-opening party filled with music, dance, art, food, wine and, of course, lots of happy people.
“My intention is to support the community,” said co-owner and massage therapist Isabelle Fisher, adding that she wanted a place where people could share different kinds of art and healing. “I wanted to offer the community a place that would be resourceful, safe and accessible. This is the space to do that.”
Isabelle and her husband Rod Fisher, who already own Pua Day Spa at a local resort, teamed with sacred dance and meditation teacher Eana Rose to open Golden Lotus.
The official grand opening was a week ago, but the studio has been offering classes since mid March.
Golden Lotus currently offers salsa lessons, Latin dance techniques, Bhakti yoga, omstatic dance, massages, dances of universal peace, healing bodywork, Nia dance, spiritual movies and zumbada, a mix of Latin rhythms and workout.
“This is a great alternative to a gym,” Salsa dance teacher Britany Holmgren said. “It’s a place where you can socialize, have fun and take care of your body and soul at the same time.”
Seasoned artist Leonora Orr and photographer Nathan Sebastian got together and rented a small studio attached to the Golden Lotus, completing the artistic feel of the building.
Isabelle Fisher, originally from France, has been a massage therapist in Hawai‘i for over 20 years. Her husband is also a massage therapist.
She said the new studio will offer several different kinds of massage workshops, including hot-stone, lomi-lomi, Thai and Swedish.
For now, the studio will be offering workshops where students will be able to add hours to their long massage-licensing process. In order to obtain a massage license in Hawai‘i, students must complete 570 hours of massage, Fisher said.
Starting in September, Golden Lotus will be offering full massage-licensing courses, he said.
The studio still has time slots for dance or yoga teachers interested in starting classes. Isabelle said the time slots are offered at reasonable prices.

Golden Lotus is located at 4-941A Kuhio Hwy., Kapa‘a, just past Kaua‘i Pasta.
