Miki Ueoka shot a 1-over par 73, the second best round of the day, on the final day of the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championships to finish fifth overall in the tournament played at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
Overall, Ueoka, a graduate of Kaua‘i High School, tied for fifth with Taylor Camany of Santa Clara University, finished with an 8-over par 224 (75-76-73) in the three-day tournament which was won by Grace Na of Pepperdine (74-68-75-217), states the WCC website.
Ueoka, a senior at Santa Clara University, led a team of three student athletes who earned all-league honors.
Tamara Surtees of the Big Island and freshman Camany of Salinas, Calif., joined Ueoka on the 2011 Women’s All-Conference Team for the WCC.
Camany finished the championship tournament at 232 (79-77-76), a tie for 11th place with Stephanie Corey of Gonzaga University, and Surtees, a graduate of the Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy, finished 14th (80-75-81-235).
This is the third-straight season Ueoka earned All-WCC honors. Following qualifying for the NCAA Tournament as an individual during her sophomore season, Ueoka won three collegiate events, being described as one of the best women golfers to play at Santa Clara, states the SCU website in a Friday announcement.
Joining Ueoka on the 2011 Women’s All-Conference Team are Liv Cheng, Kaitlin Drolson, Victoria Fallgren, Katrina Hegge, Tinna Johannsdottir, Danielle Kang, Taylore Karle, Tai Jade Kliebphipat and Na.
Honorable mentions include Sara Banke, Camany, Stephanie Corey, Jessica Howe, CaitlinMcCleary, Sage Suffecool and Surtees.
