KAPA‘A — A two-story home on Kamole Road in Kealia sustained extensive damage to its upstairs Friday morning.
A 58-year-old resident of the home detected heavy smoke and flames coming from the upstairs and evacuated the residence, states preliminary reports from the county.
Authorities were notified at 11:19 a.m. and when responders arrived on the scene about 15 minutes later, the upstairs bedroom was fully engulfed in flames, a county press release states.
Engine 2, Engine 8 and Rescue 3 had the fire under control within 15 minutes.
No one was injured in the fire and the downstairs portion of the home was not burned, but may have sustained extensive water damage.
Estimated damages are not known at press time and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
