Fortunato “Orto” Villa Valle of Hanama‘ulu died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 88. Born in Mangaterem, Pangasinan, Philippines on Sept. 3, 1922, to parents Thomas and Teresa Valle, he worked for the Lihu‘e Plantation until his retirement in 1982, holding various positions to include a supervisory position of crew chief.
Orto found joy working as a hall cane truck driver in which he told many stories driving his truck named Haiko and Piliha. Orto also delighted in playing for the band Sampaguita in which he primarily played the clarinet, trumpet, and saxophone.
He was an avid outdoor adventurer and enjoyed living off the land. Of the numerous activities Orto participated in, he found greatest pleasure when fishing, mushroom and clam picking as well as prawning. With the love of the land, and his family, Orto chose to call Kaua‘i his home. It is on Kaua‘i that he chose to live his final days surrounded by close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Valle, and brother, Graciano Valle.
Fortunato Sr. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Narcisa J. Valle; his five children: sons, Raymond Valle (Blanche) of Wailua, Kaua‘i; Fortunato “Forto” Valle Jr. of Hanama‘ulu; daughters, Flordeliza “Lisa” Valle (Moku) of Seattle, Wash.; Florentina “Flor” Valle (Brad) of Concord, Calif. and Ludivina “Ludi” Valle of Hanama‘ulu; nephew, Arnold Valle of Hanama‘ulu; and sister-in-law, Mercedes Valle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial services to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery. The family request aloha attire.

Tricia Bernadette Moura of Lihu‘e died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 47. Born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i on April 9, 1964, she was a dedicated homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Taryn Moura and Savannah Moura; sisters, Carlina (Dennis) Muffly, Valerie (Robin) Takiguchi, Mimi (Victor) Erikson; nephews, E.R. Corrales and Corey Corrales; companion, Bradley Turner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and Buster.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Prayer Service celebrated at 10 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Moura family with arrangements.
