Daniel Yabes and Triston Hawelu-Inanod each pocketed 10 points to lead Hanakila to a 39-33 edge over Team Lihu‘eX in the only boys game, Tuesday night.
Five games played between the Kapa‘a High School gym and the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center highlighted the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association and County of Kaua‘i youth summer basketball league.
Lester Acojido topped the Team Lihu‘eX effort with a game-high 12 points.
Shania Kahepu‘u finished with a game-high 13 points to lead Kaulupono-Blue to its 32-8 win over the Kaua‘i Ballers, who got five points from Tori Daligcon-Pomaikai in the second game played in Kapa‘a.
Kaulupono-White did not fare as well, dropping its contest to Team Lihu‘e, 30-16 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Malyssa Manera topped the Lihu‘e scoring with eight points and Taegan Keep, the Kaulupono-White low post, topped their effort with seven points.
Siokapesi Paua finished with a game-high 11 points to lead the Kamikaze to a 31-21 showing over Westside Basketball in a Girls 12 and Under game, also in Kalaheo.
Alyssa Miyamoto and Brandee Burton topped the Westside effort with eight and seven points, respectively.
The Women 18 and Under opened its season with Bam taking a 41-37 edge over the Shakers behind Brandee Victorino, a Waimea High School standout in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation league, topping the scoreboard with 16 points.
Natalie Mata added 11 points in the Bam win.
Ana Jacinto and Robyn Ho‘opi‘i-Manuel each netted nine points to lead the Shakers, Janna Soto adding eight points in the effort.
The KYBA and county opens the 18 and Over season with three games tonight starting at 6 p.m. at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapa‘a.
Hanakila will open against Manny’s Sports starting at 6 p.m., followed by H1 and 1 taking on the Kaua‘i Ballers at 7 p.m. The Warriors match up against the Bus Drivers in the 8 p.m. nightcap.
Two 18 and Over games are on tap Friday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when GoEZ takes on Tropang-L starting at 7:30 p.m., followed by GEK going up against Westside Pride at 8:30 p.m.
There is no admission to view the KYBA and county Youth Summer Basketball League games.
