B.J. Penn was in Waimea, Saturday, and you didn’t need a reservation to see him. Sherry Patrick (she even saw Santa in Waimea) spotted him coming out of Ishihara Market and B.J. was gracious enough to come over and greet Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. who was participating in the blessing of the signboards.
Liz Hahn was the Camper substitute and got to get a photo of the Santa Jeep.
Kudos to Penny Ono Young on coordinating the event and Thomas Nizo for getting all the sound thingies together for the launch of the Music in the Park at the new stage and “Welcome Wall” across from Ishihara Market.
If you did not get to hear Charlie Naihe at the Mental Health event, you missed out one of the unique musical talents on this island. Hats off to Dave Jordan and the Friendship House crew on hosting an informative event at the Kukui Grove Center, Saturday.
Mahalo to Arthur Brun (he had the perfect spot under the monkeypod trees) for the plate of smoked meat on the way to meet Al Ah Loo and the Kaua‘i Cowboys — they play tonight at 7 p.m. When is the next swap meet?
