KOKE‘E — Rescuers airlifted a hiker on Saturday afternoon near the Kilohana lookout on the Alaka‘i Swamp Trail.
The 50-year-old woman had been hiking along the trail when she reportedly broke her ankle. A fellow hiker carrying a cell phone notified authorities of the incident at about 2 p.m., a county press release states.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 picked up the woman at about 2:30 p.m. near the Alaka‘i Swamp boardwalk and flew her to a nearby landing zone where awaiting medics transported her to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment.
