Congratulations to Tamalyn Hasegawa, one of the KIF great goalies, on her new Nui business venture.
Tamalyn got the help of former Kaua‘i girls Candace Garma, Jamilee and Ashlee Jimenez (check out the UH Athletics track program) during the Kaua‘i Polynesian Festival.
Tamalyn said she’ll be back on Kaua‘i during the Kamehameha Day festivities later in June. Jerry Kaneholani (when did he move to Colorado Springs?) was also doing his coconut frond handiwork and said he’s planning on bringing his Colorado halau to next year’s KPF.
Hats off to Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza (she’s got Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani summer hoike, Sunday at the convention hall) and her sister Keala Kinimaka-Senkus on doing a great job with this year’s KPF (do you know how hard it is to concentrate on football when you hear the music for all the group competition and the fire knife dance?).
Of course, with all the dances, Steve Read was there with all his equipment (no Mike Teruya, this year), and Raymond Duarte could balance the KPF and the Memorial Day services, too.
