Gates to the MAD Dash for Cash open Saturday at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
Spectators may enter starting at noon. Racers are able to enter at 11 a.m. with tech inspections starting at 11 a.m. and running through 3 p.m.
Time trials start at 2 p.m. and run through 6 p.m. with bracket racing starting at 7 p.m., following the dinner break.
The Garden Isle Racing Association will host the Monte’s Auto Detailing Dash for Cash honoring the late Bernie Montemayor.
Format for the MAD Dash for Cash will have winners from each class competing for $500 in cash and prizes.
Kerri Villa of the GIRA said people will see record-holding dragsters, door slammers, muscle cars, nine-second motorcycles, imports, street, sport compact cars and Junior Dragsters piloted by children between 8 through 18 years old.
Admission is $12 with children 12 and under being admitted free.
During this weekend’s race event, GIRA will honor the service personnell and their dedication to Kaua‘i and America. Military personnel with military identification will be admitted free.
Food vendors will be located at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park to take care of any hunger pangs with a variety of cold beverages (non-alcoholic).
Kaua‘i Raceway Park is located on Kaumuali‘i Highway about 28 miles west of Lihu‘e past Kekaha town.
