WAILUA — It was a hot day at Wailua Motocross Track and not just because of the weather. There was plenty of intense action with several great races throughout the day as Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association held its fifth race of the year on Sunday, states a release from KMRA.
At the Keiki Track, it was Nainoa Ragragola winning in the 50cc-B class, while Alexander Nelson took first place in the 50cc-C class.
On the main track, Teagan Amorin won the 65cc race. Treysen Barretto got the overall win in the 85cc class and also won in the Open “B” class, which turned out to be one of the most exciting races of the day.
The 125 Amateur class was won by Kimo Azares and the 125 Expert class saw Michael Carvalho take first place. In the 250 Amateur class, Daryl Dabin topped that field, while Puna Gallardo took top honors in the premier 250 Expert class as well as the Open “A” class.
Harley Genegabuas took the win in the Vet class, while David Amorin was the winner in the Masters class. The fastest rider on an ATV was Puncho Lopez as he took the win in the Quad class.
There were some newcomers that came out to race at this event, as well as other racers that hadn’t been seen for a while making their return to the Wailua Motocross Track. Island locals and tourists were treated to fun filled action, great local food from the lunch wagon and flavorful shaved ice as they all had a great day in the hot Kaua‘i island sun.
The next scheduled KMRA motocross race will be on Sunday, July 17 at the Wailua Motocross Track. More details to follow.
Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association would like to invite all the dirt bike riders to come out and ride the Wailua Motocross Track, located just south of the Wailua Golf Course. It is open Saturdays, Sundays, as well as all state and county holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Practice fees are collected at the gate.
