LIHU‘E — “Summer ‘11 Block Party” is the theme of the next Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and networking event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 16.
Sponsored by Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union and co-hosted by 12 neighborhood businesses, the event’s goals are to foster a sense of pride in the “block” community, provide area businesses marketing support and provide attendees and their guests networking opportunities while visiting small businesses in the area that borders Rice, Umi and Ewalu streets.
“In coordinating this first ever event, we’re excited to have our neighbors come together to take advantage of this great marketing opportunity because we know that small businesses can’t always have the budget, staff and or resources to have an event of this size,” said Lisa Murphy of KGEFCU and coordinator of the event.
Participating co-hosts include: Aloha Furniture, Baby Blutique, Back Street Billiards, Buddha Boutique, H. Hawai‘i Media, IT Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Toyota, Kustom Sounds Kaua’i, Lifestyle Boutique, Noguchi & Associates, Photo Spectrum and Richie’s Bar & Grill.
Members of the Chamber, guests and the public will meet at the KGEFCU ground-level parking to check in and begin their walk of the neighborhood with a map of participating businesses.
At each business visited, attendees will receive information, light refreshments and have an opportunity to participate in prize drawings donated by each of the businesses.
There will also be a grand prize drawing for a round-trip for two to Las Vegas, which includes six days and five nights courtesy of H. Hawai‘i Media, which will also be conducting a live broadcast during the event including interviews with each of the co-hosts.
The evening will conclude with additional live music and discounted food and drinks at nearby 2978 Restaurant, which is providing the food and beverages in the parking garage of KGEFCU.
“One of the Chamber’s three strategic priorities is business support, in addition to networking and business advocacy,” said Randy Francisco, president of Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, in a press release.
“Since 92 percent of the Chamber’s members are small businesses of 50 or less employees, an important value that we always try to leverage for the benefit of the members is to increase their opportunity to renew business relationships as well as create new ones. I’ve learned that in this recession, it’s become even more imperative that we continue to have these opportunities. Thanks to the Events & Activities Committee and members like Lisa Murphy, we are able to have a total of 15 events instead of the usual 11 in 2011.”
