Eight Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association players are scheduled to participate in the 2011 Junior World Qualifier, which tees off June 7 and 8 at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
At stake is a spot to play in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship, which will be held in San Diego, Calif. from July 9 through 15.
There are four spots for boys in the 7-8 age division and two for the girls; five spots each for boys and girls in the 9-10 division; four spots for boys and three for girls in the 11-12 division; five spots each for boys and girls in the 13-14 division and six spots each for boys and girls in the 15-17 division.
Pono Tokioka, the top golfer for the Kaua‘i High School boys team during the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation, will be joined by Kenji Miyata, a Kapa‘a High School golf team member, in the Boys 15-17 age division, playing 6,528 yards, Par 72.
Naea Oda of Kapa‘a will be playing 6,211 yards, Par 72, in the Girls 13-14 division.
Trevor Kua of Lihu‘e and Rilen Loo of Lihu‘e will be playing 5,585 yards, Par 72 in the 28-player Boys 11-12 division.
Bryden Salvador of Kilauea, Jamie Amimoto of Lihu‘e and Keegan Loo of Kapa‘a will play 6,211 yards, Par 72 in the Boys 13-14 division.
