Leland Lam Yuen and Tyrus Moises were honored during a recent double Eagle Scout Court of Honor by the Boy Scouts of America, Aloha Council, Troop 133 in Kapa‘a.
Both Boy Scout Eagles are recent graduates of Kapa‘a High School and received their Eagle awards from Troop 133 Scoutmaster Mike Kano after fulfilling the Eagle Scout requirements and completing a project which benefits the community.
The Eagle Scout award is the highest honor a Boy Scout can attain prior to reaching his 18th birthday.
Tom Shigemoto, the Aloha Council Kaua‘i District chair, and Ulu Perreira, the Aloha Council Kaua‘i District commissioner, offered congratulatory remarks and administered the Eagle Pledge to the newest Eagle Scouts.
Moises constructed elementary school-sized picnic tables for use by students attending Kapa‘a Elementary School while Lam Yuen constructed picnic tables for use by the patients and their families at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Medical Center.
Both scouts thanked their families, troop members, past and present, the merit badge counselors and Kapa‘a United Church for its sponsorship of Troop 133.
Moises will be attending the University of Hawai‘i in Hilo with a major in nursing.
Lam Yuen will pursue a culinary arts degree at Kaua‘i Community College.
