LIHU‘E — Nurtured, groomed and fed, the 16 horses seized as part of an animal neglect/starvation case in May 2010 are under the care of Kaua‘i Humane Society staff.
The shelter continues to provide veterinary care, feed and labor for the horses they’ve had in protective custody for 15 months, a KHS news release states.
Generous donations provided by the community have dwindled, so the shelter seeks additional funds for the continued care of the horses, the release states.
Over the past year feed alone has cost $11,423, only surpassed in cost by labor hovering at nearly $20,000.
To sponsor a horse while the case is pending trial, call 632-0610 ext. 108 or send checks payable to Kaua‘i Humane Society, PO Box 3330, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
Donations will only be used for feed, hoof care, veterinary care and labor.
