Congratulations to Brycen Hiraoka and Steve Kline on putting together a great bon dance at the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital!
People could not stop singing the praises of that event as Randall Francisco commented on how reasonable the pricing for the food items were (no wonder they sold out early), and even Dr. Cindy Goldstein was in attendance.
Dave Walker said he could hear the excitement from his home and tooled down on his nifty fold-up bicycle (it’s clothes in the box) and Eileen Naka‘ahiki was beside herself with excitement (Shanda was doing the full-body taiko styling).
Kudos to The Men of the Koi Dynasty (this was one of the rare opportunities to see them in sufficient light, thanks to Pioneer Hi-Bred International), and the Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko on its surprise “Asatoya Yunta” rendering which got the crowd going into the ring.
Stella Pimental said she had relatives on the Westside so it doesn’t take much to get her out, and even Judge Trudy Senda was in the ring, dancing.
Looks like we’ll be back in Waimea, next year.
