KAPA‘A — The Kaua‘i Police Department is investigating a crash-and-run incident, county officials said Sunday.
A single-car accident was reported at around 8:29 p.m. Friday on Haua‘ala Road. The vehicle, a 2000 silver Isuzu Rodeo, was flipped on its side in the front yard of a home, officials and witnesses said.
The unknown driver fled before police arrived. The driver’s injuries are unknown at this point, a county spokesperson said.
Court records show two different individuals have paid fines for traffic violations involving the vehicle with this license plate, KYV-913.
John Brinkley paid $219 after being cited Oct. 12, 2010, on charges related to posessing a valid driver’s license and insurance card, and operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device and.
Jack Trader paid $70 for a delinquent vehicle tax citation Feb. 2, 2009.
It could not be confirmed at press time if either of these individuals currently owns or operates the vehicle involved in Friday’s crash-and-run incident.
