Kaua‘i High School bowling teams swept the Thursday Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation bowling series at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center.
The Red Raider girls, rolling behind Darcie Vea’s high of 176 in the second game, piled up a 2,212 pinfall over three games to take its fourth-straight win.
Kapa‘a, getting a high roll of 191 from Angelika Questin in the second game, finished the day with a 2,129 pinfall with Waimea ending with an 1,885 pinfall, led by Lacie Montemayor’s 164, also coming in the second game.
Kyle Balisacan had the high roll honors for the Red Raider boys, getting a season-high 208 in game two to help the Kaua‘i boys’ 2,242 pinfall over three games, just 38 pins ahead of the Kapa‘a boys who finished with a 2,204 pinfall led by Randy Iloreta Jr. rolling a high 222 in the first game.
Waimea’s boys, getting high rolls from Chase Ueno, 223 in game one and 203 in the third game, finished with a 2,116 pinfall.
Overall, Iloreta leads the individual standings with a 2,225 pinfall over nine games for a 197.44 average, about three strokes ahead of Ueno who has a 2,185 pinfall over nine games for a 194.11 average.
Balisacan of Kaua‘i is in third place with a 1,693 pinfall over nine games for a 171.89 average.
Balisacan is followed by fellow Red Raider Ammon Ho‘opi‘i-Akau, rolling high 160 and 165 in Thursday’s games two and three, respectively, reaching a 1,619 pinfall over nine games for a 165.78 average.
Waimea’s Kalei Nakaya, rolling a high 148 in game two, Thursday, fills in the top five boys averages with a 1,764 pinfall over nine games for a 156.11 average.
Vea tops the girls individual averages with a 2,039 pinfall over nine games for a 176.67 average followed by Questin of Kapa‘a at a 1,658 pinfall for a 156.22 average. Montemayor of Waimea fills in the third spot with a 1,536 pinfall for a 147.22 average.
Malia Garcia, rolling a high 151 in game two, Thursday, is fourth in the individual girls with a 1,303 pinfall for a 144.78 average.
Junelle Cacal of Kapa‘a, rolling a high 175 in game one, Thursday, fills in the fifth spot with a 1,498 pinfall for a 143.56 average.
Thursday marks the fifth week of the six-week series with the first balls rolling at 5 p.m. at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center.
Overall, the Kaua‘i girls’ team leads the standings with four points and the Kaua‘i boys, rebounding from its third finish last week, continues to lead the team standings with three points followed by Kapa‘a with one point after taking last week’s series.
