KAPA‘A — Celebrate the useful and tasty coconut Oct. 1 and 2 at the 15th Annual Coconut Festival presented by the Kapa‘a Business Association. In addition to live entertainment, crafts, games, exhibits and cooking demonstrations, on Sunday afternoon, the festival will feature a coconut cook-off contest, according to a press release. Anyone is eligible to enter a dish in either a first course or dessert category using coconut as an ingredient.
The contest will be judged by professional chefs and island celebrities, the release states. The first place prize is $100 cash. Admission to the festival is free, but donations are appreciated.

The festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 1 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at Kapa‘a Beach Park, next to the Kapa‘a Library.
