A warm-hearted comedy by Julia Cho about communication and relationships. Directed by Laurel McGraw. Closes Sept. 11. ‘Ohana Day
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kaua‘i Museum, located at 4428 Rice Street in Lihu‘e
Join the museum as it welcomes keiki from the Queen Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center for a morning of oli (chant), mele (song) and crafts for all ages starting at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., author Jo Ann Lordahl will be reading and signing copies of her book, “Princess Ruth: Love and Tragedy in Hawai‘i.” After the signing, listen to live music by Living Treasure Larry Rivera from 1 to 2 p.m., plus wood working with Les Ventura and feather working with Kaeo Bradford from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ‘Ohana Day is the first Saturday of each month and is free for kama‘aina and visitors receive a discounted rate.
Kaua‘i Aloha Festivals
10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Smith’s Tropical Paradise Garden
This signature event is features the 2011 Mo‘i Kane (King), Mo‘i Wahine (Queen), Kamali‘i Kane (Prince) and Kamali‘i Wahine (Princess) along with their royal court. The procession will begin at 10 a.m. with the blowing of the pu, which signifies the arrival of the Royal Ali‘i. After the investiture, the royal court will be treated to ho‘okupu (gifts) of mele and hula. The Royal Family will be visiting different places around the island.
Third Annual Kaua‘i Marathon
6 a.m. Sunday, at Po’ipu Road fronting the Po’ipu Shopping Village
Features the $15,000 Speed Challenge, plus a beer garden, hula and live music. Call 283-2078 for more information.
