When Michelle Boice traveled to Uganda leading relief teams, she discovered that women spent time breaking rocks for $1.50 a day to support their families. Now, these women make beads from recycled paper for the fair trade organization Beads of Hope Africa, which Boice started. In turn, the women are able to support themselves and their families, making up to $300 a month. Taking it a step further, Boice established an orphan education program in hopes to put an end to the poverty cycle. www.beadsofhopeafrica.com
