NEW JERSEY — Kaua‘i’s David Hubbard didn’t have a clear path to the USBA National Title. In the way of David at The Bubbakoo’s Jenks Pro in New York was current title holder, his brother, Jeff Hubbard.
But David managed to do what nobody has done in seven years: Beat out Jeff for the title. David edged out Jeff and fellow Kauaian David Phillips in the final round of the Bubbakoo’s at the Seaside Pier in New Jersey on Aug. 30. The win clinched the national title for David and ended Jeff’s seven-year streak as national champion.
To top off David’s win, he also took second place in the Bubbakoo’s Knee Drop division. This high placing was good enough to seal David’s fourth Knee Drop national title.
