Heidi Herr is showing her runner’s anxiety, noting she had a dream where she finished last. Heidi (she also won a Long’s Drugs gift card courtesy of Gladys Okada) was one of five Kaua‘i High School Leo Club members who came to help at the White Cane Awareness Day walk, Thursday at the Kukui Grove Center.
Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. is definitely happy to be home from Japan, taking the opportunity to tape his ‘Together We Can’ television show and singing, not just one, but a bunch of songs for the event hosted by the Kaua‘i Chapter of the National Federation for the Blind and the state’s Vocational Rehabilitation division.
Hats off to Ulu Breen, Betty Bell (she donated a Joe’s on the Green gift certificate), Glen Nakagawara and all those involved in putting the event together.
Janice Bond was one of the East Kaua‘i Lions Club volunteers said not to forget the “Happy Times Community Picnic and Food Drive” for the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank at Lydgate Park from 10 a.m. today.
OK, time to go check out Jarrett Chytka and the Kmart people with its annual Safety Day program which moves to the front parking lot this year.
