Hundreds of people gathered at Kapa‘a Beach Park Oct. 1 and 2 to celebrate one of Kaua‘i’s most useful and tasty treat — the coconut. Hosted by the Kapa‘a Business Association, the two-day Coconut Festival included a pie-eating contest, crafts, keiki games, local food and live entertainment.
The free event pays homage to the coconut, and its special connection to the Eastside where coconut plantations was once a thriving industry.
