LIHU‘E — Where were you on Nov. 22, 1963?
Nov. 22 is one of those “historical marker” days for many Americans who can remember exactly what they were doing and where they were when they heard the news that shots had rung out in Dallas, Texas, said Dr. Bruce Getzan, director of the Office of Continuing Education and Training at Kaua‘i Community College.
Mrs. Kenney is said to have cried out, “Oh, no!” and the president’s limousine sped off to Parkland Hospital where the youngest man ever elected president of the United States of America was pronounced dead.
Getzan will host a free presentation and discussion, “Remembering JFK,” from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the KCC OCET Building, Room 106 C/D.
Getzan has taught several classes on the JFK presidency, including a guided tour of the Dallas Sixth Floor Museum, the grassy knoll and a tour with the former mayor of Dallas and CBS reporters of Lee Harvey Oswald’s escape route and the arrest location.
A pre-screening of a short film, “Jackie Kennedy: Heroine and National Treasure,” being developed by Getzan for a public TV station in Philadelphia, will also be presented.
