The Kaua‘i Community Health Center in Kapa‘a shared in the award of $1.5 million from the AlohaCare health plan that recently was distributed to 14 member clinics and health care centers statewide.
“We understand that the health center is seeing more patients,” AlohaCare spokeswoman Susie Corse said Friday. “We’re happy that we can support them and support the island of Kaua‘i.”
The funding is part of AlohaCare’s Quality Improvement Incentive Program, which supports projects that “measurably improve clinical care, services and access to care, especially to Hawai‘i’s at-risk populations,” according to a news release from AlohaCare.
At the Kaua‘i center, the funds will go to the facility’s emergency department utilization program.
AlohaCare did not list the amount of funds awarded per facility.
The funds were divided among one Kaua‘i center, seven health centers on O‘ahu, three on the Big Island and three on Maui.
