HANAMA‘ULU — Lilet and Leonard Villanueva and Michael Koerte were named tops in the annual 2011 Holiday Light Contest hosted by the Hanama‘ulu Community Association.
Judging for the entries, which was open to the community association’s residents, took place on Dec. 15. “Christmas Splendor” at the Villanueva household at 4100 Palikea St. topped the Best Theme category.
Koerte created his rendition of “Santa’s Workshop” at 4307 Ho‘ohana St. to capture top honors in the Most Spectacular category during the judges’ tour.
Jon Arrojo at 4217 Aikepa St., with a “The Precious Moment” entry, received runner-up honors for Best Theme. Rasay ‘Ohana at 4408 Amo St. won third-place honors for “Peace on Earth” in the Best Theme category.
Edna Saito’s “Multi-Colored” display at 4311 Kailewa St. earned runner-up honors in the Most Spectacular division.
Third-place honors for Most Spectacular went to the “Winter Wonderland” display at Greg Sadora’s home at 4217 Ho‘ohana St.
