Tomas Rudy Refamonte, 69, was arraigned in 5th Circuit Court on Monday on six counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, and one count of family or household member abuse.
Deputy Public Defender Stephanie Sato represented Refamonte, who is currently in custody at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center. Sato entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of her client. County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Arin represented the state.
A trial was scheduled April 23 by 5th Circuit Judge Kathleen Watanabe.
A grand jury indictment filed on Dec. 29 states that the alleged assaults occurred on Sept. 30 and Oct. 12.
