LIHU‘E — Students from Koloa Elementary School’s fifth grade class waved palm leaves and skipped around the Kaua‘i Museum’s courtyard on Feb. 4 in honor of the Chinese New Year.
The Kaua‘i Museum hosted an array of Chinese New Year festivities as part of its monthly ‘Ohana Day celebration. Members of the Hui Holomua FCE were on hand selling traditional Chinese foods, making dragon crafts and telling fortunes.
The students from the elementary school hosted a cooking demonstration, while audience members learned the movements of Tai Chi.
The museum’s ‘Ohana Day is the first Saturday of each month. Admission is free for kama‘aina and discounted for visitors.
