Clarence Luczon Sr.
Clarence Norton Luczon Sr. of Kalaheo died March 4, 2012, at his home in Kalaheo. Born on February 26, 1971, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, he was previously employed at King Auto Center.
He was preceded in death by his son Clarence Keoki Luczon Jr. of Wailua Houselots; paternal grandparents Salustiano and Ceferina Luczon of Puhi; maternal grandparents Narciso and Saturnina Cabinatan of Hanamaulu, Kaua‘i.
He is survived by his father, Julian Luczon Sr.; mother, Viviana Cabinatan Luczon of Wailua Houselots; daughters, Ashlyn Luczon and Chanlyn Luczon of Wailua Houselots; grandchild, Aaliyah Feigh Carbonell of Wailua Houselots; brothers, Julian Luczon Jr. of Puhi, Norman (Nora) Luczon of Koloa; sisters, Lorna (Michael) Navarro of Puhi, Angela (Reuben Kim) Luczon of Wailua Houselots; ex. Wife Elizabeth of Kaumakani and friend Pua Vidinha of Kalaheo; and, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa, Saturday March 31. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Services soon to follow. Ashes will be scattered at a later date.

Bernard Rita Sr.
Bernard “Jimmy” James Rita Sr. of Lihu‘e passed away Feb. 29, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 55. He was born on July 25, 1956, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was a security guard with Securitas at Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Rita; sister, Betty Lou Quirantes; and parents, Arthur and Secundina Rita.
He is survived by daughters, Natasha Rita, Malia Rita, April Rita; son, Bernard “B.J.” Rita Jr.; brother, Patrick (Violet) Rita Sr.; sister, Darlene (Fred) Rita-Sarmento; caregiver, Doreen Higashi, and eight grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 31, at St. Theresa’s Church, Kekeha. Visitation at 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Helene Vierra
Helene K. Vierra of Koloa passed away on March 15, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Born on September 10, 1945, in Hawai‘i,, she was a homemaker.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ashford and Miriam Kapahu; sisters, Rebecca Kapahu, Lavern Montavo; brothers, William Kapahu, Ashford “Bully” Kapahu.
She is survived by her husband Thomas W. Vierra; daughter, Lesah (Wendell) Merritt; sons, Kalani (Tracy) Vierra, Ohu (Michelle) Vierra, Nohili (Toni) Vierra; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Kapahu Freitas, Mona (Bob) McCulluough; brother, Butch (Patricia) Naleimaile; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday March 26, at Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 5 p.m. Services will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Burial to follow on Tuesday, March 27, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 10 a.m.

Trinidad Rames
Trinidad “Trini” Castillo Rames formerly of Kapa‘a, Hawai‘i, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 24, 2012, at the age of 90. She was born on Feb. 16, 1922, on O‘ahu.
She relocated to San Diego, Calif., and later retired in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunty.
Friends and loved ones may recall fond memories of working with Trinidad at Coco Palms, Kealia County Store (Kaua‘i) and AAA Automobile Club (San Diego, Calif.).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent R. Rames, her parents, Juan and Maxima Castillo; brothers Wallace and Donald Castillo, and sister Connie Mora.
She is survived by her seven children; Olivia Rames Smith of Las Vegas; Tom Rames of Portland, Ore.; Raymond “Fish” Rames of Kaua‘i; Luka (Gary) Hooten of Kaua‘i; John (Cathy) Rames of San Diego, Calif.: Lorrin (Ellen) Rames of Birmingham, Ala.; and Ronnie Rames (Irvin Vidinha) of Kaua‘i; 14 grandchildren; Michelle Waldo of Little Rock, Ark., David Salonius of San Diego, Calif., Ryanna Rames of Portland, Ore., TJ Rames of Portland, Ore., Bronson Rames of Portland, Ore., Brandon Rames of Little Rock, Ark., Tasha and Tanya Rames of O‘ahu, Kai Forsen of O‘ahu, Melissa Mounts of Boston, Mass., Elizabeth Mounts of Los Angeles; Megan Urena of San Diego, Calif., Emily and Vince Rames of Birmingham, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren. And many beloved extended family members.
A celebration of her life and scattering of ashes will be held at Hanalei Bay and announced at a later date.
Beverly Manini
Beverly Ann Curtis Manini, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed on from this life on March 14, 2012, at the age of 79. Beverly was born in Honolulu but made her home in Waimea, Kaua’i, for over 60 years. She was a homemaker.
Beverly is now joined with her son, Hokulani Luther Manini, father, Luther Martin Curtis, mother, Winifred Kaloke Kealohanui Curtis, stepmother, Sadie Curtis, two siblings and many loved family members and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Punilei Manini Sr. of Waimea; seven children, Yvonne Keoho of Hanamau’ulu, Joseph Manini Jr. of Lihu’e, Erna (Robin) Kamibayashi of ‘Oma’o, Elwood Manini of Waimea, Clorinda (Sefo) Manini-Fiso of Ma’ili, Eben (Tammy) Manini of Pu’u ‘Opae and Bonnyjean Manini of Honolulu; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday March 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kalaheo Ward. Located at 2-2354 Kaumaulii Highway. Visitation; 9:30 a.m. Services: 10:30 a.m.

John Taylor
John C. “Jack” Taylor of Kekaha died on March 15, 2012, at the age of 80.
Born on Aug. 17, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a retired mechanic.
He is survived by his wife Satsuki (Kono) Taylor; son Richard (Kathie) Taylor and granddaughter Jackie Taylor of Waimea.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 22, at Garden Island Mortuary. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Service to begin at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Bartolome Viernes
Bartolome Villanueva Viernes of Puhi, Kaua‘i, passed away on Feb. 22, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. He was born on Oct. 14, 1921, in Vintar Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was a retired plant operator with Lihu‘e Plantation and a self-employed carpenter.
He is preceded in death by his son Rogelio Viernes; and his great-great grandchildren, twins Gaylene and Daylene Ebinger.
He is survived by his wife, Carlina Viernes; daughters, Marylou (Gary) Titus and Evelyn Sarte; sons, Danilo (Kathleen) Viernes and Arnel (Sally) Viernes; sister, Visita Turqueza; Mother in-law, Hora Yacapin; brother in-law, Alfredo (Juliana) Yacapin; sister in-law, Ester Guzman; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 24, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.

Evelyn Laureta
Evelyn Reantillo Laureta of Lihu‘e died on Feb. 28, 2012, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu at the age of 82, following a short illness. She was born on Dec. 13, 1929, in Jamaica, N.Y. She was a retired registered nurse and nursing instructor at Kaua‘i Community College and an active volunteer in numerous community organizations.
She is survived by her husband, retired state and federal judge Alfred Laureta of Lihu‘e; sons Michael (Liz) Laureta of Wailua, Gregory (Marian) Laureta of Powell River, Canada; daughters Pamela Laureta (Rodney) Mayer of Wailua and Lisa Laureta of Hanama‘ulu; grandchildren Ihilani and Maika’i Laureta, Makana, Kaluhea, Kokua, Konane and Hokuloa Laureta of Canada, Kilinoe (Clayton) Ventura, Kaena, Kanoa, Keani and Kali‘a Mayer; great-grandchildren Kawena, Kawehi and Kawailele Ventura; Keilani Laureta of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a on Prince Kuhio Day, Monday, March 26. Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with Mass to follow at 10:45 a.m. The celebration will continue with lunch in the church’s Fellowship Hall after the service. Flowers to be omitted.
Justo Vicente
Justo Vicente of ‘Ele‘ele died on March 15, 2012, at his home in Hanapepe at the age of 87. He was born on July 22, 1924, in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was a retired supervisor for Kaua‘i Electric.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Labrador Vicente.
He is survived by his daughters, Nina (Romeo) Ramelb of Kaua‘i, Lynn (Nick) Abramo of O‘ahu; son, Kenneth (Ana Lissa) Vicente of California; grandchildren, Sherri (Guy) Matsumoto, Liza (Al) Tolentino, Jennifer Ramelb, all of California, Carlyn, Elijah, Nicholas Abramo of O‘ahu; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Dyan and Mari of California.
Memorial service will held on Wednesday, March 28, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery. The family suggests casual attire and no flowers.
