OZone took the latest Nawiliwili Yacht Club Paul Pond Memorial Series Race No. 3, but three other boats finished within a minute of each other Thursday night under cold conditions.
OZone picked up her second first finish in three races, crossing the line on a 1:06:38 elapsed time and correcting to 1:06:44 PHRF for top honors.
Fast Company challenged the finisher, both Olson 30s crossing the line within 20 seconds of each other in elapsed time, but Fast Company posting a 1:06:58 elapsed and correcting to 1:07:04 PHRF for second place.
Bonjolea crossed the line on a 1:10:18 elapsed sail, but corrected to a 1:07:36 PHRF, just 32 seconds back of Fast Company for third place.
Papa‘au crossed hot on the tail of Bonjolea, stopping the clock at 1:10:45 elapsed, just 27 seconds back of the X-342, and corrected to 1:07:44 PHRF, fourth place by eight seconds on the correction.
Papa‘au also corrected to 1:03:31 Club for top honors in that class.
Mapuana, a Wells 35, (1:17:27 elapsed, 1:13:42 PHRF), Speedy (1:15 elapsed, 1:15:20 PHRF), and Coyote (1:21:55 elapsed, 1:19:50 PHRF) rounded out the field as Karanja took a Did Not Finish.
The public is invited to view the competition in the Shoreline Series Thursday as the Paul Pond Memorial Series Race No. 4 gets going with the first flags flying at 5 p.m.
