Jacob Young fired a game-high 24 points to lead Team Central Black to a 41-31 edge over Papalina-Blue on Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Unfortunately, Team Central Black could not sweep the series as Team Central White’s Ka‘iea Miguel fired a game-high 13 points against the Kaua‘i Ballers, but the effort came up short, 43-24, in the second of three games played in the county’s boys Division II youth basketball games.
Noah Rall and Dutch Fairbanks each netted 12 points to lead Hanakila to a 50-8 win over the Team Lihu‘e Heat in the final boys game. Kekoa Wehner and Keane Tibon each ended with three points to lead the Heat effort.
Sailen Farias, the Papalina-Blue low post, topped its effort with 11 points.
Hunter Bethel and Ofa Masaniai led the Kaua‘i Ballers’ victory with 10 and nine points, respectively.
Jaliyah Cassem topped the Hanakila scoring with a game-high 13 points to lead the squad of Hanalei and Kilauea area girls to a 61-21 win over Team Lihu‘e 01 who got seven points from Samantha Coloma.
Adding to the Hanakila win, Joy Milbrand, Shanol Tolenea and Keani Tolenea each finished with 10 points.
Monique Lorenzo, Taegan Keep and Apryl-Joy Grande each finished with eight points to lead Kaulupono to its 34-15 showing over Team Lihu‘e 02 in the final game of the day.
Team Lihu‘e 02’s Leona Sime led its effort with eight points.
Hanakila will square off against Kaulupono in what should be a good duel starting at 6 p.m. today at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Following that match, Team Lihu‘e 01 and Team Lihu‘e 02 will go against each other starting at 7 p.m.
The boys take the floor Tuesday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when Team Lihu‘e Heat takes on the Lihu‘e Kamikaze starting at 6 p.m., followed by Papalina-Orange matching up against Westside Basketball starting at 7 p.m.
