Levon Ohai
Levon “Sonny” Ammon Ohai of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, passed away on March 3, 2012, at the age of 70. Born on Jan. 26, 1942, in Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, he was a professor at the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa, O‘ahu.
He is survived by: wife, Jacqueline Ohai; sons, David (Kaleilani) Ohai, Benjamin (Ka’iulani) Ohai, Jesse (Nicole) Ohai; father, Leo Ohai; mother, Clara Ohai; brother, Nephi Ohai; sisters, Anolani Haiola, Roberta Livingston, Laola Kau, Lisa Beasley-Ohai, Tiare Ohai, Reri Ohai; seven grandchildren
Numerous Aunties, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 17, at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Lihu‘e. Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.

Linda Kanahele
Linda Kuuleiakahelelani Kanahele of Kapahi died on March 2, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 50. Born on March 11, 1961, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a cashier with Leonard’s Chevron.
She is preceded in death by her sister Viola Mealani Nuhi.
She is survived by her husband, Keith (Fetta) Keala Maka; Parents Henry and Helen Nuhi, and Iubile Keolaana and Rose Kanahele; Brothers, Henry (Joni) Nuhi of Hanalei, Iubile (Charla) Kanahele of Oklahoma, Herman Kanahele of WA, Wayne (Ala) Kanahele of O‘ahu, Elvis (Melodie) Kanahele of Hanapepe; Hanai brothers, Vicente Hermosura (Daphnie) of Kilauea, Aldrino (Rhona) Hermosura of Kilauea, and Shawne Doiran of Oregon; Sisters, Wanda Kanahele of Oregon, Denise (Steven) Kanahele of Kekaha, Moki (Daniel) Palakiko of Anahola, and Betty Lou Pahulehua of Kekaha Victoria (Mitsu) Yokotake of Hanalei; Hanai sisters, Joan Nuhi of Kilauea, Marsha Hermosura of Kalaheo, and Estrella Pacatang of Kona. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Hanalei. Visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service to begin at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Consuelo Amorin
Consuelo “Connie” D. Amorin of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i, passed away on Feb. 29, 2012, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home in ‘Oma‘o at the age of 80. She was born on Aug. 18, 1931, in Kealia, Kaua‘i. She was a home health caregiver for St. Francis home health.
Preceded in death by: parents, Constancio Dela Cruz and Antonia Sanchez; son, Patrick D. Amorin; sisters, Juanita Wileman and Consolacion Cline.
She is survived by: husband, Stanley Amorin Sr., Kaua‘i; daughters, Phyllis Amorin, Kaua‘i, Rochelle (Leroy) Vandergalien, Wisconsin, Christine (Wilber) Villanueva, Kaua‘i; sons, Stanley (Connie) Amorin Jr., Kaua‘i, David (Terrilyn) Amorin, Kaua‘i; stepmother, Trinidad Dela Cruz; sister, Rose Carvalho, Kaua‘i; brothers, Sonny Dela Cruz, Kaua‘i, Mark Dela Cruz, O‘ahu; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family On Thursday, March 8, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lihu‘e. Visitation at 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Family suggest casual attire.

Gladys Niitani
Gladys Torigoe Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele died on Jan. 13, 2012, at the age of 79. She was born on November 13, 1932. She was retired Clerk with Kaua‘i Electric.
She is survived by her husband; Walter Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele. One son; Mark (Leimomi) Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Alsone sister Elaine (Charles) O’Connell

Evelyn Reis
Evelyn Leina’ala Kaleiohi Reis passed away at Straub Hospital in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, at the age of 70. Born on Sept. 12, 1941, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Shandrina Reis, parents Ephraim and Evangeline Kaleiohi; sister, Winifred Cummings,; brothers, Ephraim and Phillip Kaleiohi; sisters-in-law, Roberta, Laurie and Elaine Kaleiohi, and brothers-in-law, Benjamin Cummings and Robert Goias.
She is survived by her children Evangeline (Daniel) Kaneholani-Reis and Joseph Reis, both of Anahola; Hanai daughters, Terrilyn (Chad Rapozo) Makanani and Sandrina (Santiago) Kaneholani-Reis both of Anahola; grandchildren, Shy (Bryon) Kaneholani-Ponte of Lihu‘e, Shaun (Dina) Reis of Anahola and Kalama Reis of Texas; great-grandchildren, Sheldon, Starla and Sierra Kaneholani-Cruz of Anahola, Shane, Bryanna and Shyden Kaneholani-Ponte of Lihu‘e, Brittany Kali-Ponte of Hilo and Tysha Torres of Kahalu‘u; sisters, Evangeline Evans of Kapa‘a, Phylis Goias of Hanama‘ulu and Daisy Tailfeathers of Lihu‘e; brothers, Samuel (Lois) Kaleiohi, Edward (Amanda) Kaleiohi, Abraham (Yolanda) Kaleiohi, Joseph (Marlene)Kaleiohi, all of Anahola, Robert Kaleiohi of O‘ahu and Theodore Kaleiohi of California, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy Furushima
Peggy LaRue Furushima of Garland, Texas, passed away on Jan. 9, 2012. Born in Dallas, Texas, on Feb. 6, 1944, she was a retired federal funds fransfer officer at First National Bank of Dallas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Takeshi Furushima, and her parents, Harold and LaRue Saunders.
She is survived by daughters, Kim (Brett) Fincanon of Texas and Ami (Chris) Furushima-Ellis of Virginia; sisters, Konitta Jo (Ted) Pohrte of Texas and Vicki (Leonard) Edgar of Texas.
A celebration of life was held on Jan. 13 at Community Bible Chapel in Richardson, Texas.
Patricia Reyes
Patricia Ann Reyes of Kapa‘a died Feb. 16, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 67. She was born in Lihu‘e on Nov. 11, 1944, and retired from Dollar Rent-A-Car.
She is survived by five children: Marlene Silva, Roxanne Silva, Brian Reyes, Blaine (Maile Bryan) Reyes, Barrett Reyes; caregivers, grandson Justin “Kaipo” Rapozo and Nolemana “Kuulei” McFadden; brother Suki Silva; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of the life of Patricia Reyes will be held on Sunday, March 11, at Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center at 2 p.m. Please call grandson Justin “Kaipo” Rapozo at 649-9324 or 639-4227 with any questions.

Kazuo Kuboyama
Kazuo Kuboyama of Kapa‘a died at Garden Isle Health Care on March 1, 2012, at the age of 84. He was born at the Kuboyama Hotel located on Kalapaki Beach on Sept. 19, 1927. He lied about his age and joined the Army, serving in the South Pacific at Guadacanal. He attended Minnesota College of Music, and was self-employed most of his life.
He was the owner of Lihu‘e Super Service Gas Station in Lihu‘e, and enjoyed being a tour driver, talking to tourists and telling them stories about old Kaua‘i. He started Stop Cue Pool Hall in Lihu‘e for the younger generation so they had a place to hang out and talk story, watching over them and lecturing always about how important education was. He also obtained a permit for the drag strip.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; brothers-in-law, Kunio Fujimura, Larry Kiyabu, Melvin Kiyabu and Jerry Yamane.
He is survived by his daughter, Lorry Kuboyama of Kapa‘a; son, Henry (Julie) Kuboyama of Arizona,; grandchildren, Todd (Robin) Medeiros of Lawai, Kristy (Shane) Kahananui of Kapa‘a, Scott Medeiros of Kapa‘a, Leslie Kuboyama of Arizona, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Asae Fujimura and Ruth Tanaka, both of Lihu‘e; sisters-in-law, Lavell Kiyabu, Lavern Kiyabu both of Kaneohe, Vivina Yamane of Kailua, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 8, at Lihu‘e Lutheran Church, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and graciously declines flowers.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Kuboyama family with arrangements.
Josefina Cuadro
Josefina M. Cuadro (Pinay) of Kekaha died at home on Feb. 28, 2012, at the age of 82. She was born in Bangui Ilocos Norte Philippines.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Wenceslao Cuadro and sister Maria Soliva.
She is survived by her sisters, Victoria M. Soliva and Rosalina M. Gonzales of the Philippines; nieces, Milagros (Blue) Ragragola of Kekaha, Thelma (Robert) Temate and Angelita (Art) Ramiscal of Las Vegas, Remedios Malabe of Pakala; numerous nieces and grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at Borthwick Mortuary, Koloa. Light refreshments to follow. Cremation at a later date.
