Westside basketball picked up another win in the county’s Division II Youth Basketball League for students in grades 4 through 6 on Tuesday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
League officials capitalized on nice weather and Spring Break to throw in three games after all the games last week had to be scrubbed due to inclement weather.
D.J. Pabre netted 10 points and T.J. Apilado added eight points to lead Westside Basketball to its 32-18 win over Papalina-Blue, who got eight points from Wade Pimsaguan.
Ryan Banasihan and Sailen Farias helped the Papalina effort with six and two points, respectively, while Dylan Balaan helped Pabre and Apilado with four points in the net.
Chyse Basuel also finished with 10 points to lead the Kaua‘i Ballers to a 47-23 win over Team Lihu‘e Heat. Team Lihu‘e Heat got six points each from Kekoa Wehner and Tanner Bentley, with Keane Tibon adding five points in the effort.
Basuel got help from Hunter Bethel to add nine points, and Micah Lalin finished with eight points in the win.
Jacob Lombardo of the Team Lihu‘e Bulls was the third player to finish with 10 points Tuesday night, his 10 points leading the Bulls to a 27-13 win over the Lihu‘e Kamikaze. The Kamikaze were led by Leon Runny’s seven points.
Noah Ho‘opi‘i and Grant Urmatam helped fuel the Bulls’ win with four-point contributions, while Blake Probasco and Tokyo Beti finished with two points each for the Kamikaze.
Following two games today, the boys take to the court for three games Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, when Papalina Blue opens the day against Team Central Black in a 9 a.m. tipoff. The Kaua‘i Ballers tangle with Team Central Black starting at 10 a.m. followed by Hanakila visiting Team Lihu‘e Heat starting at 11 a.m.
