Kaiola (Awiwi) was the first to cross the line for the Women Race at the annual Prince Kuhio Long Distance Canoe Races Saturday centering around Kalapaki Bay.
Pu‘uwai (Fugazi) was the first men’s crew to cross the line, stopping the clock at 1:20:23. In addition to being the first overall crew, Pu‘uwai topped the Open Men division, followed by Namolokama, (Hokualele), finishing second overall at 1:21:37 and Hanalei (Hili Na‘i Nau), finishing third overall at 1:24:25, according to results from the Garden Island Canoe Racing Association.
Kukui‘ula (Keoneloa) topped the Masters 40 division on a 1:25:02, finishing fourth overall with Pu‘uwai (Us Hawaiians), finishing eighth overall, filling in second at 1:33:27.
Namolokama (Holokiki), finishing 10th overall at 1:38:45, topped the Masters 50 division followed by the Waikiki Surf Club (Hiwahiwa) at 1:47:02.
Kaiola (Hihimanu), finishing ninth overall at 1:37:17, topped the Masters 60 division followed by Namolokama (Tahiti Nui) at 1:49:18.
The first Kaiola (Awiwi) crew to land for the women at 1:19:33 topped the Masters 50 division, the sole placer for that class.
Hanalei (Hili Na‘i Mau), finishing second overall on a 1:21:39 paddle, topped the Open Women division followed by Niumalu (Kalapaki), finishing eighth overall at 1:26:43, just 17 seconds ahead of Kukui‘ula (O Liliko), the Kukui‘ula (O Liliko) team topping the Masters 40 division on a 1:26:26 run.
Namolokama (Hokualele), finishing 12th overall, filled in the third berth of the Open Women division on a 1:40:53 paddle.
Puuwai (Coconuts), crossing the line 11th overall, filled in the second place slot of the Masters 40 division on a 1:40:33 run.
Pu‘uwai (Kahiau Elua) was the sole placer in the Masters 55 division, crossing the line 14th overall at 1:46:16.
Following the top-finishing Kaiola (Awiwi), Kukui‘ula (Keoneloa), finishing third overall at 1:23:40, filled in the second berth of the Open Mixed division with Hokualele (Makaihu Wa‘a) taking up the third berth on its fourth overall finish with a 1:25:02 run, 12 seconds ahead of Pu‘uwai (Fugazi).
West Kaua‘i (Ne‘e Miomakekai), crossing at 1:29:20, was the sole placer for the Mixed Masters.
