Hawaiian Air attendants ratify agreement
HONOLULU — Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants ratified a tentative four-year, nine-month agreement reached earlier between the company and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA).
The new contract, according to a Hawaiian Airlines news release, balances increased compensation for the company’s 1,350 flight attendants with gains in productivity for the company.
“This agreement, which spans nearly five years, recognizes the excellent contributions of our flight attendants to our company’s success and provides cost stability as we add flights between our islands and outside of our state,” Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and CEO, said in the release.
Intermediary Lending Pilot Program round 2
The Small Business Administration’s Intermediary Lending Pilot Program (ILP) has opened a second competitive application period. ILP provides long-term loans to eligible non-profit intermediary lenders to finance lending to small businesses.
Small business owners, especially those in under-served markets looking for loans of up to $200,000, will soon have access to twice as many community-based funding sources under the program, the SBA states in a news release.
“The first round of the Intermediary Lending Pilot Program showed that we are on the right track, and now we are expanding it,” SBA Administrator Karen Mills said in the release. “These non-profit lending institutions are helping small businesses create jobs and strengthen our economy.”
Through the ILP, launched last year under the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, SBA makes loans of up to $1 million to participating lenders. In turn, they use funds to make loans to startup, newly established and growing small businesses.
During 2011, ILP funded 20 intermediaries and plans to identify another 20 this year, the release states.

SBA hosts small business video contest
The Small Business Administration is hosting a video contest that will showcase successful small businesses, an SBA news release states.
SBA is seeking creative videos from small businesses that show how they have been helped by an SBA program or service.
Three winning videos will be selected and will be shown at the White House on May 24. Qualifying videos will be showcased on a YouTube page.
Contestants can enter the contest by producing an original video two minutes or less in length and submit it by 5 p.m. on May 11. For more information, visit http://smallbizvid.challenge.gov.
