AUSTRALIA — Malia Manuel advanced to the third round of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Tuesday in Australia.
The Wailua native posted a two-wave total of 14.87 to beat Jacqeline Silva of Brazil. Manuel didn’t waste anytime putting up good scores with her first three waves scoring six-points or better. Manuel’s 7.10 second wave and 7.77 third wave counted toward her final total.
On Monday Manuel advanced out of the first round with a 11.57 combined score, good for second place. Australia’s Tyler Wright took that first round heat with a 12.77.
O‘ahu’s Coco Ho also advanced past the second round at Bells Beach by posting a 14.66 over Rebecca Woods’ 11.74.
