KIUC hires new communications manager
Jim Kelley, the former editor of Pacific Business News and former editorial page editor of The Honolulu Advertiser has joined Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative as its new communications manager, according to a Pacific Business News report.
Most recently, Kelly was the managing editor of The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., reports Pacific Business News, where he helped oversee coverage of the Palm Springs region’s growing renewable energy industry.
He will start his position today.

Marathon Group and its operating company, BEI Hawai‘i, reported the promotion of Eli Pablo to vice president of distribution and James “Jim” Mistysyn to executive vice president of distribution, a news release states.
Pablo is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations on Kaua‘i. He has more than 30 years of agricultural and fertilizer industry experience, joining the company in 1975, the release states.
Pablo worked at Gay & Robinson as field superintendent and crop control manager and at Dow AgroSciences as a field technician before returning to BEI Hawai‘i in 2010.
Marathon promoted Mistysyn from his position as senior vice president of distribution. He is responsible for BEI Hawai‘i’s industrial business statewide. He originally joined the company in 1973 as a water treatment sales engineer.
Mistysyn left the company for a brief period, then returned in 1990 and has served in various management positions since. He has an extensive background in industrial chemicals, pest control chemicals and building materials, the release states.
Marathon Group is a diversified holding company focused on operating companies across multiple sectors in Hawai‘i, including BEI Hawai‘i, the state’s largest distributor of fertilizers, and agricultural and industrial chemicals, the news release states.
