WAIPOULI — The Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach has revived its outstanding employee recognition program, and began last week by naming Eddie Iloreta, the Courtyard’s food and beverage director, as the resort’s Manager of the Quarter.
Bentley Kriewald, the general manager of the Courtyard, said Thursday that Iloreta was able to lead special projects and showcase the resort’s community outreach despite the challenges of the property’s recent multi-million dollar renovation.
“He did so with great success,” Kriewald said.
The return of acknowledging employees for their outstanding service and professionalism comes on the heels of the renovation project’s completion.
“We need to let our employees know their efforts at improving guest experiences are appreciated and do not go unnoticed,” Kriewald said, announcing a special award for Lissa Fu, celebrating her 30th year on the job at the Courtyard by Marriott property.
Kriewald also announced the property’s Outstanding Employees for January, February and March. Each recipient received movie passes, a certificate of achievement and two personal days off. They also are eligible for the Employee of the Year honor.
“It’s time to bring pride back to work,” Rafael Camarillo, executive chef at the Courtyard, said in announcing Karen Ramson Herringer as Employee of the Month for March. “Karen motivates others to excel while providing outstanding service for our customers.”
Camarillo said Ramson Herringer also took charge of the Voyager Restaurant’s ala carte section and buffet section, and added that she creating sandwiches for the new mini store.
Cody Gallardo said one of the hardest aspects of Lori Kikuchi’s work has been working with several interim managers, something she has done successfully and happily despite the renovations to earn accolades as the Outstanding Employee for January.
Crystal Aguirre said Brendon Toguchi’s priority is always the customer, an aspect he demonstrated to make sure guests to the employee luncheon were comfortable.
“Brendon’s concerns go beyond just his department,” Aguirre said. “He is very consistent, and everything he does is always about the customer.”
Kriewald said all of the 100 employees at the Courtyard are outstanding.
In resuming the Outstanding Employee program, he said the goal of the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach is improving guest experiences.
